Hygiene Practices
Ever wondered why your kid often suffers from stomach pain? In most of the cases the reason can be gastritis. But there is something else that we should be concerned. Something that doctors check with the parents, Personal Hygiene. Health and Hygiene are closely related. Uncut nails and unwashed hands can also lead to stomach aches and diarrhea.
Basic Hygiene Practices:
Wash Hands Before Eating
While playing, kids come in contact with the soil and other dirty substances. Handrails, buttons in the elevator, using common toilets etc. are the places where germs can come in contact with hands. Occasional washing of the hands helps us to maintain our health to an extent. Take one minute for washing hands; fingertips, finger gaps, wrists to the elbow shall be lathered and rinsed very well.
Keep Your Nails Trimmed
Uncut nails are the carriers of germs. Kids sweat and scratch and the germs are transported to the nails from which they are carried to the mouth. Also, the habit of biting nails seen among children should be discouraged.
Bath Daily
Though fully dressed, our body gets dirty due to dust and sweat. The chances of carrying germs are high if you commute daily, especially in the means of public transport. Bathing daily as soon as you come back home is considered healthy. It is advised that people living in the tropical countries bathe twice a day.
Brush Two Times a Day
Whichever the brand, brush your teeth at least twice a day. Make sure to wash your mouth after every meal and if possible, brush too. It prevents formation of the bacteria that triggers gum decaying and bad breath. Daily flossing also promotes the gum health. Gum diseases can affect your heart’s health too, and that can tell you how important oral hygiene is.
